Services from NetPriceCalcWe specialize in "software as a service" (SaaS), with delivery through cloud computing. We're glad to discuss your school's requirements. We can offer help with:
Of course we can also help you to customize your NetPriceCalc, too. This may include logos, custom color schemes, spec. programming, or special interfaces for mobile or special-needs users. Please use the contact form to discuss your requirements. 1.1 Leveraging Cloud ComputingThe traditional colocation is quickly being replaced by cloud computing. With cloud computing, system administrators are freed from hardware maintanence, and can pay for only the resources they require. We use Rackspace for cloud servers. They charge by the hour. We pay three cents per hour for each server. 1.2 UNIX (Solaris, Linux, BSD)Nearly all of the cloud computing vendors expect that you will manage your own UNIX servers. If you're uncomfortable with this, we can help. Common scenarios include mail, DNS, web, FTP, SSH, and building new packages from source code. 1.3 Programming (C, C++, Java, Perl)These are some of the most popular programming languages in widespread use. Web apps are most commonly developed in Perl. Still, there are advantages to using these others. Java is highly portable, C and C++ are compiled to machine code and execute very fast. 1.4 Database DesignDatabases are increasingly being used from web sites. In fact, many databases are never manipulated from a traditional front-end, only from a web site. We work with all the popular SQL brands (commercial and free), and can design easy-to-use databases that your customers can access from your web site. 1.5 Web ServicesWe routinely work with all aspects of web sites, from initial domain registration to choosing hosting/colocation, setting up DNS and mail, designing and serving web sites. Custom programming services are available for interactive web sites or special applications. We do forums, blogs, chat rooms, Joomlas, Drupals, or custom designs that fit your budget. 1.6 Technical WritingSometimes the nerds who write the best software write the worst documentation. (Of course, most of the time, they don't document anything at all!) If your project is really slick, and you need documentation to match it, let us write your manual, your FAQ, or your help files. 1.7 Search Engine OptimizationPeople who have just created their first web sites are often disappointed because they think their sites aren't being found by the major search engines. This is usually not true; in most cases, their sites ARE being found by the search engines, but they're being ranked poorly. SEO is the art and science of making your web site interesting not only to the people who visit it, but also interesting to the robots who visit it. A site optimized for search engines will, in effect, have such clarity that even a robot can figure it out, and will direct to your site the people to whom it is most relevant. We can help with this. |
