Technical Questions

Q. My calculator displays all zeroes in the results, no matter what the input. What's wrong?
A. You haven't entered your financial aid data, yet. Go to your calculator (e.g. http://www.netpricecalc.com/calc/SampleU) and login by typing 'adm' into the Age field, clicking Next, and entering your password. After logging in, you'll see some links along the top of the calculator where you can enter your institution's specific values for aid, grants, scholarships, and expenses. The manual has a complete walk-through of setup from start to finish, with pictures of every screen.

Q. Our school doesn't offer on-campus housing (or in-district tuition, etc.). How can we hide these options?
A. Login as the administrator and look under Globals. There are several true/false options for suppressing the display of irrelevant options. For instance, setting ResOnCampusSuppression = true will suppress the display of the on-campus housing option for schools that do not offer on-campus housing. For a more complete discussion of how these settings can be used to control NetPriceCalc, see section 2.3 of the manual.

Q. We're a private school and we offer a single tuition for all students. We do not distinguish among in-state, in-district, and out-of-state applicants. How can we configure NetPriceCalc to properly display this single tuition?
A. The quick answer is to contact us, and we'll set it up for you at no cost. (This is a new feature in V2R6, and documentation is forthcoming.)

General Questions

Q. Doesn't the Department of Education provide a free calculator?
A. Yes, and you should check it out. Their calculator is strictly compliant, but it's very limited in what it can do. There are also a couple of very serious bugs in the source code that can lead to incorrect answers. This is why NetPriceCalc was written. We encourage you to compare NetPriceCalc to the Department of Education's calculator, and to select the one that best meets your needs.
Q. Is it really free?
A. Yes, it's really free, and it will always be free. Future versions will likewise be free, free of charge, free of advertisements, etc. Click here to find out why we're doing this, and how we make our money.
Q. May I get a custom net price calculator?
A. Yes. We can make it do whatever you want for a fee. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
Q. I need help filling in my institution's aid and expense matrices. Can you assist?
A. We can probably get you started. Most people find the layout is very easy and intuitive. Do please read the manual, and if you're still stuck, feel free to contact us. Someone will try and assist you.
Q. I lost the password to my Control Panel. What can I do?
A. Passwords are encrypted on our system, and we cannot recover them, but we can reset them to something else. We can send this new login information to the original email contact. Contact us.
Q. Does NetPriceCalc.com do anything other than NetPriceCalc?
